Menorrhagia (heavy periods)

Menorrhagia is the medical term for abnormally heavy or prolonged menstrual periods. Many women experience heavy menstrual bleeding, particularly into their forties, and this problem causes significant damage to their life style and health. This problem tends to be underestimated and many women put up with difficulties for too long, when there are simple, very effective and safe treatments available. Not only does this problem restrict activities for some days every month, but it is a chronic strain on the body. Some women can become anaemic and many are chronically fatigued because of the chronic stress on the body trying to make up for the considerable loss of iron and nutrients every month. There is also considerable financial cost every month.
